If you hold a terminated fund in your portfolio, most of the entries for that fund in the portfolio reports will be blank. Since these funds are no longer active, they do not report price data and no further returns can be calculated. The discontinued fund's name will be black print instead of a blue link. Follow the steps below to account for the merger in Globe Portfolio:

  1. On the Portfolio Menu page, click Record Buy/Sell-Funds. Enter a transaction to sell all units (click the circle beside Sell all units) held in the discontinued fund using the date the merger took place.
  2. On the Portfolio Menu page, click Add Funds. Select the appropriate fund company from the drop-down list. Add the appropriate new fund to your portfolio.
  3. On the Portfolio Menu page, click Record Buy/Sell-Funds. Add a transaction to reinvest the amount into the new fund by entering a buy transaction for the new fund.

The statements from your broker or fund company will reflect similar transactions. The old fund will remain in your portfolio until you have completed the above transactions so don't worry about losing your record of it. Remember though that future returns on the old fund cannot be calculated because of the lack of any ongoing price information.

If you hold a fund that was renamed: Globe Portfolio will automatically rename the fund for you. You do not need to do anything. The following fund name changes have occurred:

Globe Portfolio is not updating one of my mutual funds. Could this be due to a fund merger? How do I account for fund mergers in Globe Portfolio?

If Globe Portfolio suddenly stops updating one of the funds in your portfolio, it is likely that a fund merger has occurred. The details of fund mergers are reported in globefund.com's Noteworthy section. Noteworthy reports which funds continue, which funds were discontinued, and which funds were renamed as a result of the merger.

If you hold a discontinued fund in your portfolio, most of the entries for that fund in the portfolio reports will be blank. Since these funds are no longer active, they do not report price data and no further returns can be calculated. The discontinued fund's name will be black print instead of a blue link. Follow the steps below to account for the merger in Globe Portfolio:

If you hold a discontinued fund in your portfolio:

If you hold a fund that was renamed as a result of the merger or is shown as a continuing fund in globefund.com's Noteworthy section: Globe Portfolio will automatically rename the fund for you. You do not need to do anything.

Globe Portfolio has stopped updating one of my recurring transactions. Why?

A recurring transaction occasionally stops updating because Globe Portfolio does not have a market price for the first date the transaction fails. We contact the fund company for the missing price and when it is added, the recurring transactions will proceed. This may, however, take some time.

If you have your fund company statement and know the market price for the first date the recurring transaction failed, you may choose to do the following:

  1. On the Globe Portfolio Menu page, click Stop Recurring Buy/Sell.
  2. Click the box beside the fund that is not updating and click Stop Transaction.
  3. On the Globe Portfolio Menu page, click Funds-Record Buy/Sell. Add the details of your buy and click Buy. On the confirmation screen, click Confirm Transaction.
  4. On the Globe Portfolio Menu page, click Start Recurring Buy/Sell. Re-enter your recurring transaction for this fund with the start date of the next transaction that should be executed.

How do I modify a transaction?

To edit a transaction for a fund, click Funds-View/Edit/Delete Transaction on the Portfolio Menu page. A list of all the mutual fund transactions affecting your portfolio will be shown. Click the Edit link in the Edit column for the transaction you wish to modify, edit the transaction and click Update.

To change the details of a recurring mutual fund transaction, you must stop the current transaction and start a new one with the desired changes. Here are the steps:

  1. On the Portfolio Menu page, click Stop Recurring Transaction. A list of recurring transactions for your portfolio is displayed.
  2. Click in the Stop column beside the recurring transaction you want to edit. This will display a check mark in the small box.
  3. Click Stop Transaction.
  4. On the Portfolio Menu page, click Start Recurring Transaction.
  5. Enter the new transaction with the correct details. Click either Buy or Sell depending on the type of transaction you are entering. No real units will be bought or sold. The Confirmation screen will be shown.
  6. If the details are correct, click Add to my portfolio. If you need to make a change or correction, click your Web browser's Back button.

How do I modify a distribution?

Globe Portfolio automatically records distributions in your portfolio. We receive distribution data directly from the fund companies, so you should not normally have to edit distributions.

To edit a distribution, click View/Edit/Delete Transaction-Funds on the Portfolio Menu page. A list of all the transactions affecting your portfolio will be shown. Click the Edit link in the Edit column for the distribution you wish to modify, edit the distribution and click Update.

I can't view the Standard report. Why?

If you have not recorded the number of shares you hold for a fund or a stock in your portfolio, you will be able to see the funds added to your Portfolio in the Fund Report and the stocks in the Stock Report. However, the Standard report and charts will not be available.

In order to record the initial number of units held, click Funds-Record Buy/Sell, Stocks-Record Buy/Sell or Other Investments-Record Buy/Sell on the Portfolio Menu page. You will be prompted to enter the number of units held and the date on which you wish to begin tracking your investments. Click the Buy button to record the information in Globe Portfolio. No actual units will be bought - clicking Buy merely records the information in your portfolio.
