Mutual Fundamentals: Canada's Guide to Quality Mutual Funds
Financial products salesman James Yih and writer Neil Sawyers offer a brief book of basic wisdom for investment in mutual funds. They discuss the process of selecting mutual funds, the need to use a multi-period analysis to avoid being deceived by any single period of performance, reasons why one should not chase recent performance, the need to analyze risk, and the wisdom of patience in buy and hold strategies. Discussions of sales fees and managementexpense charges on total returns is elliptical. There is no significant discussion of investors for whom mutual funds are inappropriate nor is there an index. For the beginning mutual fund investor, a brief, very readable book of wisdom.
