Catalyst Paper books loss on writedown

VANCOUVER — — Catalyst Paper Corp. has reported a second-quarter net loss of $124.3-million, including a $101-million charge on the closing of its pulp and linerboard operation in Elk Falls, B.C. Excluding one-time items, Catalyst said Tuesday it lost $22.7-million in the quarter, compared with a year-ago loss of $31.8-million, but had positive cash flow.
