Iamgold profit sees modest decline

TORONTO — Iamgold Corp., a growing Toronto-based mid-sized gold miner, reported a big annual loss and lower net profits in the latest quarter as impairment charges helped offset the impact of higher revenues. Iamgold said Friday that it lost $42-million (U.S.) for 2007, reversing a $72.5-million profit in 2006. For the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, the miner had net earnings of $8.5-million or three cents per share, down from $9.
