Loonie named Time newsmaker of 2007
The loonie, a currency ridiculed in other countries for its fowl-inspired nickname, is finally getting some respect.
Time magazine named the loonie the Canadian Newsmaker of 2007, saying the dollar's rapid rise was a sure sign that “something big was happening in Canada.”
The Canadian economy boomed this year, even as the might U.S. shows signs of slowing, Time magazine said.
