Toronto stocks gain with oil, gold prices

04/11/09

TORONTO (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index advanced broadly at the open on Wednesday as strength in commodity prices boosted oil companies Canadian Natural Resources and Suncor Energy and other resource shares.

The S&P/TSX composite index rose 71.54 points, or 0.65 percent, to 11,097.44 at the open.

The price of gold hit a record high above $1,095, while oil topped $80 a barrel.
