Investment Firm President Encourages Charitable Giving During the Holidays

15:59 EST Friday, November 21, 2008

WASHINGTON, Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Susan Breakefield Fulton, president and cofounder of FBB Capital Partners, encourages her clients to remain committed to charitable giving this holiday season, especially as non-profit organizations struggle in today's volatile market.

"When you choose to invest your money in endeavors that are close to your heart, you are making a choice about the future you want for yourself and your children," advises Fulton. "This is the season where charitable giving should be at its highest -- without our support, many of the most important non-profits may not make it into the next year. Whether it is a company, a consumer product, or a cause, our choices will define our future."

FBB Capital Partners, a fee-only investment advisory company, was recently cited by Forbes magazine as one of the top twenty-five up-and-comers in its industry.

FBB Capital Partners demonstrates its dedication to philanthropy by example. Since 1989 the firm and its principals have donated in excess of $1.75 million to non-profits. Fulton herself is an active member of several local, national and international organizations.

-- Wilson College -- A graduate of Wilson College, Susan has served on the Board of the College twice and endowed the Richard Alsina Fulton Center For Sustainable Living in her husband's name in 1999. She continues to be an active funder of the center and is a current member of the board.

-- The Smithsonian Zoo -- FBB has given a two-year grant to the National Zoo to support research on maintaining populations of species in danger of extinction. Under this program, staff at the Front Royal Center for Endangered Species plan to inseminate an Asian elephant at this zoo this fall.

-- The Literacy Council of Northern Virginia -- A two year grant from FBB will support the Literacy Council, the oldest non-profit adult literacy program in Virginia.

-- Rachel's Network -- Susan Fulton is an active member of Rachel's Network. Named in honor of Rachel Carson, the organization is comprised of women selected for their commitment and leadership in stewardship of the environment.

-- Jubilee Jobs -- Jubilee Jobs has been counseling and locating employment for inner city residents who possess few skills and little or no work history for over 17 years. A two-year grant from FBB will allow them to increase their staff to serve more people.

-- Horn Point Laboratory -- FBB is funding the development of a middle school program led by Horn Point scientists to teach students how to protect terrapin habitat and preserve the Chesapeake Bay. Two schools from the Eastern Shore will launch this program in the spring of 2009.

-- Heifer International -- Since 1995, FBB has given its clients an "Ark" from Heifer International each holiday season. This Gift Ark donates 15 pairs of livestock to 15 families in 15 different countries on behalf of FBB's clients. Heifer provides gifts of livestock to financially disadvantaged families in 125 different countries. In 2007 Susan Fulton joined the Board of Heifer International to represent the American Mid Atlantic region.

"There is method to our madness," says Fulton. "Our charitable giving is more than a statement about who we are: it attracts clients who share our values and our philosophy. It also shows our existing clients that we care about them and the world they live in."

Susan Fulton is the president and founder of FBB Capital Partners and has worked in the financial services sector for over twenty-five years. She is a regular commentator on CNN, CNBC, Forbes on Fox, and Bloomberg Radio.
