BURLINGAME, Calif., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- ECC was recently awarded a 5-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) Design-Build/Bid-Build Construction Contract with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES).

Under the $750 million contract ceiling, ECC will be one of five contractors that will compete for task orders for the design and/or construction and renovation of AAFES shopping centers. The projects, valued from $10 to $40 million, will be located in the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

"We are very excited about this award. AAFES has very specific business requirements and we have had tremendous success in being a trusted partner to them," says ECC's President and CEO, Manjiv S. Vohra, PE.

ECC recently celebrated the grand opening of a $20 million, 165,000-square-foot Base Exchange (BX) project at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Additionally, ECC is constructing the Post Exchange (PX) at Ft. Drum, New York; and a two-storey, 330,000-square-foot BX at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. The value of the three AAFES projects under contract is in excess of $90 million.

ECC selected The Jenkins Group and EverGreen Architects as teaming partners, both of which have extensive architectural and engineering design experience, an outstanding history on AAFES projects, and a great working relationship with ECC. Progressive Constructors, Inc., Sierra Construction Company, Inc., and RMC Constructors, Inc., our team of regional construction contractors, augment our own depth of experience. "Our Team experience is unparalleled. We've brought the best in the industry together to provide value-added benefits to AAFES. Together, our broad experience extends to the construction of more than 100 military shopping centers and 250 big box retail stores," Mr. Vohra continues. "AAFES' mission is critical to the morale and welfare of our military, and we, along with our team-members, look forward to supporting them."
