New DVD Helps Homeowners Avoid Foreclosure

20:48 EDT Thursday, August 07, 2008

WASHINGTON, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The record number of American homeowners facing the prospect of foreclosure can now find the help they need with The Foreclosure DVD: The Homeowner's Guide to Understanding Foreclosure and Saving Their Home. Created by The Douglin Group, a Maryland-based firm dedicated to helping homeowners avoid foreclosure, the DVD guides homeowners through a proven, easy-to-apply system for saving their home and/or their credit.

The new 45-minute educational video is a companion piece to The Douglin Group's recently released publication, The Foreclosure Workbook. The materials are available as a package for $49.99 online at foreclosuredvd.com.

Together, the DVD and workbook instruct and encourage distressed homeowners to understand their finances, and then navigate them step by step through the foreclosure avoidance process. Homeowners will also gain critical information such as the most common foreclosure scams to watch out for, and what most people don't know about using bankruptcy to fight foreclosure.

"With the knowledge they get from The Foreclosure DVD and The Foreclosure Workbook, homeowners are able to face foreclosure issues confidently and without embarrassment," said CEO Carla Douglin, who was recently named spokesperson for the American Homeowners Association, a national homeowner advocacy group. "They'll have the tools they need to effectively communicate with lending partners, explore their options, and then take informed, strategic action toward a beneficial outcome."

About The Douglin Group

Carla Douglin founded The Douglin Group in 2005 to assist homeowners on the verge of losing their property. As she consulted with clients, she noticed a pattern of miseducation and confusion about the foreclosure process, compounded by the tremendous amount of emotional distress most people undergo when facing foreclosure.

Building on her background as a corporate trainer, Douglin created a simple questionnaire to help troubled homeowners begin to sort through the process. The questionnaire evolved into a foreclosure manual, which in turn became The Foreclosure Workbook and The Foreclosure DVD.

Both products offer timely assistance in confronting the foreclosure epidemic that is a major crisis in our country today. Foreclosure filings were reported on 739,714 U.S. properties during the second quarter of 2008, a 121 percent increase from the second quarter of 2007, according to Realtytrac.com. The report also shows that one in every 171 U.S. households received a foreclosure filing during the second quarter.
