Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA(R)) Presents Awards in Phoenix

PHOENIX, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- IMCA(R) -- the Investment Management Consultants Association (http://www.imca.org) today is presenting three prestigious awards at its 2007 Spring Professional Development Conference in Phoenix.

Richard Ennis, CFA(R), and James Knupp are receiving the 2007 Matthew McArthur Award for their outstanding contributions to the profession of investment management consulting and to the advancement of the skills of investment management consulting. They founded Chicago-based Ennis Knupp + Associates in 1981.

Ennis is principal and chairman of the board of directors of EnnisKnupp. He has more than 30 years of experience as an investment consultant and is editor of the Financial Analysts Journal.

Knupp spent 27 years as an investment consultant, retiring in 1999. He continues to be of counsel to the senior professionals and remains an active member of the firm's board of directors.

Ana Cascon, Ph.D., and William Shadwick, Ph.D., are receiving the 2007 Journalism Award for "The CS Character and Limitations of the Sharpe Ratio," (Journal of Investment Consulting 8, no. 1, Summer 2006). The award honors the author(s) of a book or article exemplifying the best writing in the investment management consulting industry during the previous year. Recipients must demonstrate academic and analytical vision and relevance to the everyday work of investment management consultants.

Cascon is a principal at Omega Analysis in London, England. She is an expert in the use of symbolic computation techniques for mathematical modeling.

Shadwick is a mathematician and managing director of Omega Analysis. He has been a professor of mathematics at the University of Waterloo and a professor of mathematics and computer and electrical engineering at the University of Toronto

Thomas Boczar, Esq., CFA(R), is receiving the 2007 Stephen L. Kessler Writing Award for "The Legal Duties of Fiduciaries to Manage Stock Concentration Risk" (Monitor 21, no. 5, September/October 2006). The award honors IMCA members for their excellent editorial contributions the previous year to the Monitor, IMCA's bimonthly educational magazine. He is director of marketing to financial institutions with Twenty-First Securities Corporation in New York, NY.

The following two authors are receiving Kessler Honorable Distinction awards:

Scott Welch, CIMA(R), for "Multi-Strategy Funds vs. Funds of Funds: The Future of Multimanager Hedge Funds" (Monitor 21, no. 5, November/December 2006). He is a managing director and member of the executive committee at Fortigent LLC in Rockville, MD.

Ron Surz, CIMA(R), for "Visit Monte Carlo to Remove the Peer Group Gamble from Hedge Fund Due Diligence" (Monitor 21, no. 5, November/December 2006). He is president of PPCA, Inc. in San Clemente, CA.
