Sb 1 - Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton remarks on U.S. support of the Iraqi government's efforts to pass an election law.

"We support the Iraqi government's efforts to pass an election law so that they can proceed with planned elections. We know that here are some continuing concerns as expressed by the Vice President (Biden) that have to be addressed. We will continue working with all of the parties. Our ambassador on the ground, Chris Hill, has been deeply involved in doing so already. (RT 29 sec)

Sb - Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says Iraqi elections might slip to allow for necessary planning to take place, but once held will mark a milestone in Iraq's journey toward democracy.

"We believe, on balance, that there will be elections. They might slip by a period of time until this is worked out because at some point, the law has to be in place for the planning to begin and so there necessarily needs to be a period of time in which the planning can occur. But we have every reason to believe that elections will be held, which will be another milestone on the journey that Iraqis are taking toward full and comprehensive democracy." (RT 35 sec)
