TORONTO, July 24 /CNW/ - Equinox Minerals Limited (TSX and ASX symbol: "EQN") ("Equinox" or the "Company") announced today that Mr. Harry Michael, Vice President, Operations and Chief Operating Officer, has advised Equinox of his intention to leave the Company effective December 2009. Mr. Michael has been with Equinox for over four years and has played a key role during the construction of the Lumwana Mine, managing site activities through a very challenging period of growth for the Company with the transition from developer to producer.
The Company has retained an international executive search firm and is actively seeking Mr. Michael's replacement. The Company and Mr. Michael have agreed that during this transitional period Mr. Michael will continue to focus on the continuing ramp up of Lumwana operations. As a consequence of his resignation, Mr. Michael has also resigned from the Board of Equinox, effective immediately.
Craig Williams, Equinox Chief Executive Officer commented, "We thank Harry for the outstanding contribution he has made in bringing Lumwana to reality and we wish him well in his future endeavors.
