84% plan to hire in the next 6 months, according to recent survey
TORONTO, June 10 /CNW/ - A recent webinar on using LinkedIn to recruit new employees was surprisingly popular with Canadian recruitment professionals, 86% of whom indicated their organizations are planning to maintain or increase hiring in the next 6 months, according to recruiting company Head2Head.
"We knew that the Canadian recruiting market was picking up a little, but the response we had to our survey about social media and recruiting was frankly surprising," says Paul Dodd, President of Head2Head, a Canadian recruiting company specializing in insourced and outsourced recruiting solutions. "When we asked recruitment professionals and hiring managers about their hiring plans for the next few months, the message was clear: 32% plan to increase hiring volume and 54% plan to maintain hiring volume between now and the end of 2009."
The question was asked as part of a feedback survey for a webinar Head2Head sponsored around using LinkedIn - a social networking tool - for recruiting. The survey also asked questions about how Canadian recruiting professionals are using social media to find candidates. According to respondents, LinkedIn is the social media site most often used by recruiters (69%), with Facebook second (44%). "This didn't surprise us - Toronto is the No.4 worldwide in terms of LinkedIn use outside the US, and adds 76,000 new Canadian members every month," adds Dodd, who reports that Head2Head recruiters were responsible for placing 13,000 people in new jobs in 2008 alone. "And Toronto has long been one of the most Facebooked cities in the world."
