LG Electronics Canada Consumer Notice: Regarding LG Electronics USA. Consumer Notice about French Door Refrigerators With Ice and Water Dispensers

18:48 EST Friday, November 14, 2008

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 14 /CNW/ - Today LG Electronics USA issued a consumer notice that, working in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), LG Electronics USA has revised the energy ratings on five current "French Door" refrigerator models with ice and water dispensers in the door and is offering energy-saving product modification and cash payments to consumers for incremental energy costs. This notice applies solely to LG Electronics USA and its American customers.

In Canada, the ENERGY STAR program is administered by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). At this time, LG Canada is working actively with NRCan as part of NRCan's initiative, within the appliance market, to review testing and compliance of "French Door" refrigerators with ice and water dispensers in the door. LG Canada is a proud participant of the ENERGY STAR program and proactively reached out to NRCan when issues regarding the current test standards of the ENERGY STAR program were first brought to our attention. LG Canada expects to release an update on this matter on or before December 1, 2008.
