Media Advisory - Last Cruise Ship of 2008 Arrives in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Oct. 13 /CNW/ - The last cruise ship to call on Vancouver for the 2008 cruise season will arrive at Canada Place on Monday, October 13th. 28 cruise ships visited Vancouver this year, making a total of 254 calls and bringing approximately 855,000 cruise passengers to the city.

The Vancouver cruise business creates employment and stimulates significant economic impact in the Metro Vancouver region. In 2007 this amounted to more than $440 million in direct spending. And that impact extends well beyond the region itself. The total economic impact generated across Canada by the cruise industry in Vancouver is $1.3 billion.
