TORONTO, Aug. 28 /CNW/ - At a Hollywood-style gala held at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex on Thursday, August 28th, Empire Communities in partnership with Bell announced the winners of the "So You Look Like A Movie Star?" contest - a program designed to speak directly to the web-savvy target market through social networking forums and create excitement about the glamorous lifestyle at Fly Condos.
The winner of the Grand Prize - $75,000 toward the purchase of a suite at Fly Condos, is Tommy Matejka - a Jude Law look alike. Runner-up Prize-winner of a Bell Better Home Entertainment Package, including one year free of Bell high speed Internet, high definition Digital TV, home phone and long distance services, plus a free Bell HD PVR receiver, 46-inch flat-screen TV, a home theatre system, laptop computer and a cordless phone (approximate retail value $6,000), is Ryan Priest for his portrayal of Eric Dane.
The contest was conducted online. Visitors to the website voted for contestants, and assigned a rating out of 5 stars, based on the resemblance of that person to a movie star of their choice as found on the website. An amazing 27,000 votes were received. The top-rated people who received the most points attended the Red Carpet Finalist Gala. Celebrity judges Zain Meghji (eTalk), Andria Case (CTV), Larysa Harapin (Citytv), Shinan Govani (National Post), and Rick Campenelli (ET Canada), then culled that group to a short list of 10, who were announced by Antony Robert (Global News). From that list, the judges selected the two winning candidates who most closely resemble their movie star look-alike. For more information on the duo, visit www.soyoulooklikeamoviestar.com.
Empire Communities executive vice president Paul Golini Jr. said, "We are gratified by the overwhelming response to the contest, by the interest it has generated in Fly Condos. Empire is proud to have built nearly 4,000 homes throughout southern Ontario over the past fourteen years, and has done so for a cross section of the marketplace - from first time buyers to empty nesters.
At Empire, we believe that every community we develop can only be successful if we understand the needs of our customers and the changing marketplace. We were pleased to be able to communicate with our primary target in a medium that resonated with them."
