Zellers Launches NASCAR Licensed Product Program and Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Contest

TORONTO, Oct. 19 /CNW/ - To coincide with the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup - NASCAR's climactic 10-race championship series, Zellers has launched a NASCAR licensed product program that makes Zellers an important destination for NASCAR licensed merchandise in Canada. To support the launch of this extensive product offering, Zellers also announced the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Contest.

The product program provides Zellers with the broadest assortment of NASCAR, team and driver licensed products ever available at mass retail in Canada, including men's and children's sportswear and sleepwear, housewares, bedding, toys, games, holiday décor and much more.

The six-week Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Contest, launched October 14 and continuing through November 24, offers NASCAR fans and Zellers customers the chance to win one of four grand prizes of an all-inclusive trip for two to a 2007 NASCAR race weekend of their choice. Entrants are also eligible to win one of 20 Prize Packs featuring an assortment of NASCAR, team and driver licensed merchandise.

To enter, fans and customers can swipe their Hbc Rewards Card when purchasing NASCAR, team and driver licensed merchandise at any one of Zellers' 284 stores nationwide. Fans can also participate through no purchase entry, by mailing in for their chance to win.

The Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Contest is supported through NASCAR Canada's extensive national media assets, including a range of content features during TSN NASCAR broadcasts, customized television and radio promotion, online exposure through TSN.ca, print campaigns through the Toronto Sun and Inside Track Magazine, as well as point-of-sale materials in all participating Zellers stores across Canada.

The Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup is a 10-race championship showdown between NASCAR's top 10 drivers and their teams based on NASCAR's points system. The Chase began in September with the Sylvania 300 race and continues through to the season-ending Ford 400 in November. TSN has live coverage of four of the remaining five Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races, including the Ford 400 finale on November 19. All of TSN's NASCAR broadcasts are available in High Definition on TSN HD.

NASCAR is the No. 1 televised motorsport in Canada. The 2006 Daytona 500 was the most-watched motorsport race in TSN history with a national average audience of 568,000 viewers*.

NASCAR has a strong fan base in Canada with 5.8 million fans, representing one out of four Canadian adults. The average Canadian NASCAR fan has been following the sport for approximately 10 years.(xx)
