NEW YORK (Business Wire) -- The Toy Industry Foundation (TIF), the philanthropic arm of the North American toy industry, has announced the launch of a month-long “virtual” Do Good Stuff-a-Thon to provide necessities such as blankets, clothing, toiletries, and toys for new personal duffel bags that will be delivered to thousands of foster children across the country.
As part of a multi-year commitment to its partner organization the My Stuff Bags Foundation, TIF is providing 50,000 new toys and $400,000 over two years to support the delivery of My Stuff duffel bags to children rescued from crisis situations. The Virtual Do Good Stuff-a-Thon allows individuals to assist in “stuffing a duffel” online by sponsoring items that go in each bag. Participants choose their level of commitment by selecting items to add to a duffel via a quick and easy feature similar to an online shopping cart.
“Virtual drives are such an inventive way to involve a large number of supporters for a single cause,” says Jean Butler, TIF Executive Director. “We are excited to see how many more people will be able to get involved.”
Many toy industry companies have formed corporate teams for this effort; individuals are also encouraged to participate by visiting the Virtual Do Good Stuff-a-Thon website anytime during the month of November.
About the Toy Industry Foundation (www.toyindustryfoundation.org)
The Toy Industry Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring joy, comfort, and learning to children in need through toys and play. While other organizations provide food, shelter and support services to children and their families, TIF sees to it that these children have toys and opportunities to play in an attempt to restore both fun and a sense of normalcy to their lives. The Foundation currently fulfills its mission through core programs including The Toy Bank™, public education initiatives, and grants to organizations whose missions are in line with that of the Toy Industry Foundation.
