Media Advisory - Governor Joins CSAC and County Supervisors: Borrowing Not the Answer

19:13 EDT Thursday, August 28, 2008

SAN DIEGO (Business Wire) -- Governor Schwarzenegger will join San Diego County Supervisors Greg Cox and Bill Horn, along with Imperial County Supervisor Gary Wyatt, for a press conference Friday, August 29 at 10:15 a.m. on protecting local government and transportation revenues under Propositions 1A and 42 from being borrowed to solve the state budget.

Counties are concerned that some in the Legislature are considering borrowing from local governments as a budget solution. CSAC adamantly agrees with, and applauds, the Governor's position that now is not the time to borrow additional monies to balance the budget and that doing so would only extend the state deficit into future years and hurt local services.

The Governor and county supervisors will also be joined by public safety officials, physicians, nurses and other professionals.
