ATLANTA (Business Wire) -- itaas Inc., the leading provider of multi-platform solutions for MSOs, programmers and application developers deploying interactive technology, is launching its Switched Digital Video Client Simulator (SDV-CS), the industry's first pre-deployment SDV tool that simulates millions of set-top box SDV requests to verify wide-scale deployments. SDV-CS, already in lab trials with a major MSO, allows cable operators to road test SDV services in order to confidently release and scale the technology. The product will be featured in the itaas booth (#2805) at NCTA's The Cable Show, May 18-20 in New Orleans.
The itaas SDV Client Simulator works in a multi-vendor environment to identify and correct potential issues before services are introduced into the market. The product simulates SDV system load by generating various patterns of viewer channel change behavior on a large scale, to identify bottlenecks in a lab environment and to test upgrades and corrections to the delivery system. SDV-CS does not require additional QAMs or set-top box investments.
"The industry is relying on switched digital video services as a way to open up the bandwidth gates without disruption or degradation in service quality," said Jatin Desai, CTO itaas. "Simulating SDV under real world conditions means that MSOs can confidently introduce and scale services faster and without unforeseen impacts on their network."
The SDV simulator is the latest addition to itaas' line of test tools that help operators build and simulate mass market deployments of new products and applications. itaas' widely deployed VOD session simulator replicates millions of VOD set-top sessions and determines capacity load for VOD systems. itaas brings deep experience in preparing advanced services, such as SDV and VOD, for deployment and in developing tru2way, and Enhanced TV/EBIF-compliant applications for multiple screens. The company serves more than 100 customers worldwide.
