(Business Wire) -- The Western Union Company (NYSE: WU), a global leader in money transfer services, and Publix Super Markets Inc., the largest and fastest-growing employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States, today announced the signing of a multi-year renewal agreement to offer Western Union Money Transfer(R) services at nearly 900 Publix locations throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
The multi-year renewal extends Western Union's existing agreement with Publix, which offers Western Union Money Transfer services through its entire supermarket chain. Publix initially introduced Western Union Money Transfer(R) services in a pilot program with 16 store locations in Atlanta and Miami in 2001. As a result of positive consumer response, Publix expanded service availability to its entire network of nearly 900 locations.
