Ceragon Networks(R) High-Capacity Products Further Extend Cyprus Telecommunications Authority's (CYTA) Network

08:00 EDT Wednesday, September 22, 2004

TEL AVIV, Israel, September 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ceragon Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ: CRNT), www.ceragon.com, a global provider of high-capacity broadband wireless systems, today announced that Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA), the national incumbent service provider, is deploying its FibeAir(TM) products as part of a project to extend CYTA's network. The first phase of this four-year project is already under way.

CYTA is installing Ceragon's high-capacity, 7 GHz low frequency SDH radio links which will serve to provide the full range of voice and data services by extending CYTA's fiber-based broadband network. The project involves deploying Ceragon's FibeAir HSB (hot standby) and FD (frequency diversity) radio links and PolyView(R), Ceragon's centralized network management and monitoring software solution.

CYTA has set strict requirements for this project and has selected Ceragon's FibeAir products through an international open tender procedure.

"Ceragon's technology leadership and cost-saving products were the key factors in CYTA's selection of our FibeAir products, which give incumbent service providers, like CYTA, unprecedented flexibility to better meet their subscribers' needs," said Shraga Katz, President and CEO, Ceragon Networks Ltd. "Ceragon remains focused on meeting service providers' demand for higher capacities and networking capabilities by delivering quicker ROI wireless alternatives to fiber."

About CYTA

CYTA is a corporate body established by Law and is responsible for the provision, maintenance and development of telecommunications facilities, both local and overseas.

It demonstrates a fixed telephony density of 59 lines per 100 inhabitants (PSTN and ISDN) and a cellular telephony penetration of 83% (including prepaid). For 2003 CYTA had a turnover of EUR360 million and a profit after tax of EUR80 million. CYTA currently employs 2.497 people.

Taking advantage of the island's geographical position, CYTA has developed an extensive submarine fibre optic cable network, which connects Cyprus with the neighbouring countries of Greece, Israel, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt and thereafter with the rest of the world, and an equally impressive satellite earth station infrastructure. All these justifiably make Cyprus a telecommunications hub in the area.

CYTA provides a variety of advanced telecommunications services, covering the whole spectrum of customer needs for both voice and data communications, fixed and mobile. Special emphasis is also placed on the provision of value added services, such as various Internet-based multimedia services, which promise to be a dominant business activity in the next decade.

CYTA has been active in the area of Quality during the last few years. It is the first organisation member of the EFQM in Cyprus and the largest organisation in the broader state sector in Cyprus to have obtained ISO certification.
