NEW BRIGHTON, M.N., May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sarah Ferguson debuts today in U.S. television advertisements for the FLEX Abdominal Toning System from Compex Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMPX), a worldwide leader in manufacturing, designing and marketing electromedical products used for fitness and sports training. The FLEX is the first abdominal belt to be cleared for sale by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the following indications: improving abdominal muscle tone, strengthening abdominal muscles and developing a firmer abdomen.

The initial commercial to launch in this campaign is entitled "The Press" and will run in 60-second and 120-second versions. It will air on cable channels nationally and during primetime on network stations in select U.S. cities. The concept plays on the idea that the British media is always trying to catch Ferguson off-guard, and she now has a secret for them: she uses the FLEX to tighten and tone her abdominal muscles. The spot also incorporates lifestyle shots of people using the abdominal belt.
"The ad is playful and fun, yet demonstrates that the FLEX is a legitimate and effective product," said Ferguson. "I've found the FLEX to be a convenient, simple and very effective way for me to stay in shape, so I have incorporated it as a regular part of my overall fitness program."
The spot is the first in a series of television advertisements airing as part of a broader campaign in which Ferguson will represent the FLEX by Compex. Last February, Ferguson signed an agreement with Compex Technologies to be the official spokesperson for its consumer division fitness line of FLEX products throughout the United States. As part of the agreement, she is participating in television and print ads and other select promotional opportunities.
"We are excited to kick off our national introduction of the FLEX with the airing of the Sarah Ferguson commercials," said Dan Gladney, president and chief executive officer for Compex Technologies. "Sarah Ferguson is a true believer in the FLEX and has achieved compelling results with the product. She has a strong story to tell that we believe will resonate with U.S. consumers. We believe the television spots and her story will help build awareness of the product and lead to retailer interest and consumer sales."
The ads were developed internally by Compex Technologies and Voodoo Productions in Minneapolis and produced by All Firms Productions in London.
The FLEX product is distributed by Compex Technologies under license from Bio-Medical Research, Inc. (BMR) of Ireland. It utilizes clinically proven, medical-grade, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) technology to work all the abdominal muscles simultaneously.
