The Canadian arm of the Nasdaq Stock Market Inc. is closing its office north of the border, the electronic exchange said Friday.
Nasdaq will deal with the Canadian companies listed on its exchange, such as JDS Uniphase Corp., Research in Motion Ltd., Ballard Power Systems Inc. and Ivanhoe Energy Inc., from its New York and Chicago offices, the organization said.
Helen Kearns, president of Nasdaq Canada since 2001, will leave the company to pursue other business opportunities, Nasdaq said.
