This event, has become a landmark during the pre-Super Bowl festivities in each host city for the past five years, is the brainchild of Julius Hollis, CEO of Hollis & Company, an investment counseling firm headquartered in Atlanta with an office in Johannesburg, South Africa. This year Mr. Hollis along with Detroit businessman and fellow Morehouse alumnus Robert Shumake, in conjunction with fellow host Earl Cummings (Texas), Willard Jackson (Texas), Freddie Gary (Florida) and Ernie Green (Georgia) in Honoring will honor Mr. Henderson for his tireless work for the NFL and their players.

Mr. Henderson, the NFL Executive Vice President for Labor Relations and Chairman of the NFL Management Council Executive Committee, is the driving force behind the NFL Player Programs. "These programs, under the expert guidance of Mr. Henderson, provide invaluable assistance to players in financial planning and money management, continuing education, business opportunities and counseling, and perhaps the most important element -- post NFL career planning. It is therefore with great pride that we are honor the accomplishments of Mr. Henderson and the NFL," stated Robert Shumake.

Robert S. Shumake is the Founder of Inheritance Capital Group, Inc., a Detroit real estate investment management firm. Mr. Shumake has a considerable portfolio of accomplishments including a Presidential appointment to serve a three-year term as Director for the Federal Home Loan Bank and a Gubernatorial appointment to the Michigan Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons.

As a Federal Home Loan Bank board member, Mr. Shumake is responsible for regulating real estate policies to facilitate and enhance the availability of credit for housing and economic growth, including meeting those needs in low- and moderate- income communities. Mr. Shumake's vision in part, is dedicated to expanding housing opportunities for people who "dream the American dream" of home ownership. Mr. Shumake also serves on the Board of Trustees for The Lewis College of Business, Michigan's only Historically Black institution of higher education, and is a member of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

As we celebrate Super Bowl XL and the conclusion of another successful NFL season, Mr. Shumake and Mr. Hollis are pleased to honor Mr. Harold Henderson. "Harold Henderson's precedent setting programs have established the benchmark by which other major professional sports will be measured," so states Mr. Shumake. Just as the Robert S. Shumake Scholarship Relays take pride in assisting high school students to secure scholarships, Mr. Henderson's program also readies NFL players to take on the challenge of their next phase of life after football.
