PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- While thousands of brides will be saying, "I do." this summer, one woman longs to add to those magic words: "I do hire you!" Single life columnist and television personality, Angela Manfredi, has launched a nationwide search to "hire" the ideal husband via her website, http://www.angelahiresahusband.com . The self-proclaimed happily single career woman has occasionally fretted over the perils of everyday life: car repairs, cleaning out the cluttered garage and preparing for those dreaded hurricanes. Are these the types of household dilemmas that a husband might handle? What about the social challenges singles face? Could a temporary husband put to rest the annoying "why aren't you married?" questions? In her newspaper column, Singled Out, Angela challenges qualified men around the country to apply for the position of husband for hire. This arrangement will not be legally binding and the "husband" will receive a salary for his two-week tenure. And, as Angela says, "The relationship is financial, not romancial." The entire experience will be chronicled in her columns.
Who exactly is a qualified temporary husband? According to Angela, she is not looking for a handyman. She wants the entire "perfect husband" package on a brief, part-time basis. The ideal man is success-minded, intelligent; single (over 21), possesses personality, originality, sense of humor. Handy helps, but resourcefulness rules! The job requires: light bulb changing, attending cultural events, bench warming at the mall, negotiating car repairs, garage organizing, participating in the Sunday night "dinner and a movie" ritual and hurricane preparations. Previous husband experience is not required. Lack of cat allergies is a must. (Or, bring your own Benadryl!)
Why would an accomplished professional want to embark on such an unusual endeavor? "As a life-long single gal and relationship writer, I decided it would be fun, enlightening, and down-right practical to find out how the married half lives," states Angela. What's in it for the men? "For better or worse, until the end of our employment contract do us part, you could consider this espousal exercise groom-ing for the real thing, a refresher course, or just a great summer job adventure!"
Eligible men are invited to apply for this position via a videotape and questionnaire found at http://www.angelahiresahusband.com . The search runs through July 19, 2005. In August, finalists will convene in Palm Beach, Florida for a long weekend of "husbandly" challenges and tasks. Angela and a panel of judges will select the winner during a beach side employment commitment ceremony in the presence of family and friends. The husband will live in Angela's residence for the duration of the "marriage."
