Zehnder's Splash Village Hotel and Waterpark Year Round Vacation Destination Opened Today in Frankenmuth

FRANKENMUTH, Mich., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Families are making a big splash today at the new Zehnder's Splash Village Hotel and Waterpark. The $14 million, 30,000 square foot indoor waterpark and 152-room hotel officially opened today in Frankenmuth, Mich. Splash Village is located next to Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, Mich.

"We opened on time, and just in time to cool off our guests from the recent early summer heat wave," said Zehnder's of Frankenmuth Chairman and CEO Al Zehnder. "We could not be more pleased with the results of 10 months of design and construction. We believe that our waterpark will be a terrific year round destination, close to home for many of our guests." The hotel has 63 new hotel suites with fireplaces; some have whirlpools and can accommodate 4-8 guests. A new 125-seat restaurant, Elf Hollow Cafe, serves breakfast and lunch daily, and also offers specialty Starbucks(TM) coffee beverages. An exciting 2,000 square foot arcade features several of the latest video games for landlubbers.

Whimsical Waterpark Features

Giggling Gorge and Perilous Plunge -- two giant tube slides -- flow into the Crooked Brook Creek, a lazy river that winds through the waterpark. Toddlers are enjoying the Wee Folk Springs area, and the Dragon Fly Pond is filled with fun water play features. A large play structure, Splash Landing has a 400 gallon dumping bucket that dumps on guests at surprise intervals. The tube slide stairs, Tree Dwellers Tower, keeps everyone busy and wet, and the Whimsical Whirl is a large hot tub perfect for adult visitors. Additional waterpark features include several geysers and water sprays.

A towering and playful 26-foot tree is a prominent feature in the new hotel lobby with a large gas fireplace built into the trunk. The Splash Village tree includes elves and fairies as part of the waterpark's overall theme. The design/build team included Water Technology, Inc., Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and Architectural Design Consultants, Lake Delton, Wisconsin; the California-based design firm NatureMaker; the general contractor was Wolgast Construction, Saginaw, Michigan.

Free shuttle service is available to Zehnder's of Frankenmuth restaurant and Zehnder's Fortress golf course both located in downtown Frankenmuth, less than a mile from Splash Village.

You must be a hotel guest to use the waterpark. Room rates start at $169 per night and include up to four waterpark passes (prices do not include taxes/gratuities). Rates vary based on season, number of guests and choice of accommodations. Visitors can also choose from a variety of overnight packages.
