Ten Maryland-Based Companies Among The Nation's Top Grossing Black-Owned Businesses

NEW YORK, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten Maryland-based firms are among the nations leading African American-owned businesses, according to the BLACK ENTERPRISE 33rd annual B.E.100s report. The listing is recognized as the most respected measure of black-owned business performance. Overall, the B.E.100s total 280 businesses, which include 100 industrial/service companies, 100 auto dealerships, 65 financial service firms and 15 advertising agencies.

Radio One Inc. of Lanham ranked No. 10 on the B.E. Industrial/Service list and is Maryland's largest African American-owned company reporting nearly $364 million in sales for 2004.

Bethesda-based Equals Three Communications Inc. ranked No. 8 on the B.E. Advertising Agencies list with $50 million in billings for 2004.

The Harbor Bank of Maryland ranks No. 9 on the B.E. Banks list with nearly $235 million in assets.

Brown Capital Management Inc. of Baltimore ranked No. 4 on the B.E. Asset Managers list with over $5 billion in assets under management.

SYNCOM of Silver Springs is Maryland's largest African American-owned private equity firm and ranks No. 3 on the B.E. Private Equity list with $250 million in capital under management.
