Boralex, Gaz Metro get green light for wind farm

CP

The Quebec government has given its environmental approval to a consortium of Boralex Inc. and Gaz Metro to build a large wind farm in the Seigneurie de Beaupre. Natural Resources Minister Nathalie Normandeau gave the environmental green light yesterday for two wind power projects with a total installed capacity of 272 megawatts. The consortium was the first to receive the government's approval under the latest Hydro-Quebec call for tenders. Quebec's decision paves the way for the consortium to seek construction permits and financing for the project. BLX (TSX) rose 5¢ to $7.55. GZM.UN (TSX) fell 7¢ to $14.81.
