Bombardier nails contract for Frankfurt light rail cars
Bombardier Inc.'s transportation division said yesterday it has notched a $417-million contract to supply light rail vehicles to Frankfurt's transport authority. The company will manufacture 146 Flexity Swift high-floor light rail vehicles at its German plants with an option to supply up to 24 more. Deliveries of the vehicles are scheduled to take place between May, 2008, and mid-2015. The vehicles will be designed and manufactured at Bombardier's site in Bautzen, with electrical equipment to be supplied by its plant in Mannheim. Wheel units for the trains will be produced at its Siegen facility. The 25-metre vehicles can hold 184 passengers. BBD.SV.B (TSX) rose 1 cent to $2.86. CP
