Devonleigh Homes of Dufferin Region becomes the first housing developer in Canada to provide illuminated address signs

TOWNSHIP OF MULMUR, REGION OF DUFFERIN, ON, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - Working with a local charitable organization, Devonleigh Homes of Orangeville became the first homebuilder in Canada to install illuminated home address signs for their Mansfield site.

Sue Snider of Safe Communities of the Hill Country, approached owners Andrew and Lisa Kidd recently and told them of a new Canadian-made product, the WayFinder Illuminated Address Sign from PermaGLO Lighting, a division of Alutron Modules. As Sue explained, "The WayFinder has all the features that would enable the builder to comply with the new by-law for mandatory illuminated addresses."

"... We feel that these products enhance the safety of our homes and neighbourhoods." Sue elaborated. "We recognize the commitment of the Township of Mulmur in enacting this historic change to their plans for new subdivisions."

Rick Milne, a paramedic working in Dufferin Region, explains, "There is no doubt in my mind that having address numbers that illuminate would be very helpful to emergency services when responding to a distress call."

Other Ontario municipalities like New Tecumseth are considering a bylaw for illuminated address numbers. Barrie and Orillia recently passed bylaws for address signage to be more visible for house addresses.

WayFinder Illuminated Signs are designed and made in Canada, are maintenance-free and long-lasting. The signs use LEDs and cost less than 50 cents a year to operate, an important feature in these times of escalating energy prices.
