TORONTO, May 22 /CNW/ - CH Television, headquartered in Hamilton, has been chosen to receive a Fire Safety Partner Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
In December 2001, the station developed and broadcast an impressive series of segments related to fire safety during the holiday season. In addition, CH Television provides consistent coverage of emergency responses and community safety initiatives, which are brought to their attention by the fire departments in the Golden Horseshoe and Greater Toronto Areas.
"CH Television has done an outstanding job of educating the community about fire safety," said Fire Marshal Bernard Moyle. "Fire departments depend upon their community partners to help them deliver life-saving fire prevention messages. By working together, communities can reduce fires, injuries and fatalities."
This year, fire departments throughout the province nominated a total of 29 individuals and organizations, from which 13 were selected to receive awards. Minister of Public Safety and Security Bob Runciman and Fire Marshal Moyle will present the awards at a luncheon ceremony in Toronto on June 18, 2003.
The Fire Safety Awards are sponsored by Pyrene Corporation, manufacturer of fire safety, suppression and detection products marketed by Kidde Residential, Pyrene Industrial and Angus Fire.
