Nextrials Accelerates Company Growth with 60 Percent Revenue Increase; New and Expanded Customer Deployments and Additional Staff Fuel Nextrials' Rapid Advancement

SAN RAMON, Calif. (Business Wire) -- Nextrials, Inc., a leader in clinical research software and services, experienced phenomenal growth in 2005 through new and expanded installations of its flagship product, Prism(R), product enhancements and the addition of key support staff. Revenues in 2005 represent an almost 60 percent increase over 2004 and stand as an endorsement of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries' growing adoption of Internet-based electronic data capture (EDC) technology.

"In 2005, we added features such as automatic safety alert messaging and real-time thesaurus coding to Prism that helped drive increased sales with existing customers. These features also attracted a growing base of first-time users -- broadening the acceptance of our technology," said James Rogers, co-founder and CEO of Nextrials. "The milestones that marked our success include a significant enterprise-wide deployment for a U.S.-based biopharmaceutical company and Prism's selection as a replacement EDC product for an ongoing, international study directed by a U.K.-based specialty pharmaceutical company."

Rogers also pointed to Prism's usage in larger Phase III clinical trials as a reason for the company's rapid revenue growth.

"With the pharmaceutical industry implementing processes designed to reduce paperwork, there is an increasing need for products such as Nextrials' Prism that can help manage data from complex clinical trials that are often conducted over long periods of time and in multiple locations," noted Chris Connor, Senior Research Analyst, IDC Life Science Insights. "Nextrials has consistently presented a forward-thinking view of technology to the EDC market, and as a result, is beginning to show traction in the pharma and biotech markets that it serves."
