TORONTO, June 23 /CNW/ - Carpathian Gold Inc. (CPN:TSX-Venture) is pleased to announce results from metallurgical testing of two samples collected from the Baiut gold resource project in Baia Mare, northern Romania, returned 95.3% and 93.0% gold recovery utilizing Bio-Oxidation followed with conventional cyanide leach technology on sulphide concentrates.

"Carpathian Gold is encouraged with these metallurgical results indicating a Bio-oxidation pre-treatment of ore could provide effective gold recovery from the relatively high-grade Baiut resource. We believe this process may also apply to our partly refractory gold resource at Baia Sprie (see press release of March 16th, 2005) which will now be reevaluated in light of these recovery results. The Corporation will plan on undertaking a drilling program on the Baiut project to expand on the current Inferred Resource base of 341,200 tonnes of 4.75 g Au/t which is open and untested along strike and at depth" said Dino Titaro, CEO and President of Carpathian Gold Inc.

This test work was conducted by SGS-Lakefield Research Limited, Toronto, to evaluate a Bio-Oxidation pretreatment to conventional CIL gold recovery for the Baiut gold resource. The sulfide concentrates were produced from underground composite samples collected from the resource and submitted to the State Mining Company in Baia Mare, Romania, REMIN, for gold recovery in conventional sulphide floatation test work with results of 95.5% and 97.4% respectively.

SGS-Lakefield test work included evaluation of gold release with
progressively increasing oxidation which indicates that with only 53%
oxidation of the sulphide in sample Br-2-868, 92.5% of gold is recovered in
conventional cyanide leach, and with 50% oxidation of sulphide in sample
Br-2-812, 70.1% of the gold is recovered in conventional cyanide leach.

The Baiut project contains a NI 43-101 compliant inferred resource of
341,200 tonnes of 4.75 g Au/t defined from underground sampling of three
Romanian State exploration underground levels with cross-cuts through the gold
mineralization. Average width of mineralization is 6.1 meters and is open
along strike and at depth. Carpathian Gold is evaluating ore-processing
options for the Baiut gold resource and the Baia Sprie gold resource
(NI 43-101 compliant inferred resource of 416,950 tonnes at 3.54 g Au/t) for a
potentially blended production scenario. In light of these results, the
Corporation will plan on undertaking a drilling program to expand on the
current resource base.

In Baia Mare, the second largest mining district in Romania, Carpathian's
projects encompasses the 30 kilometre long Eastern-half of the district. The
license is held under a 75%:25% Joint Venture Company with the Romanian State
Mining Company, REMIN S.A. (25%). The existing ore-processing infrastructure
in Baia Mare including crushing and grinding facilities and a modern CIL gold
recovery plant enhances the economics of the resources outlines on the
license.
