VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Business Wire) -- Yangtze Telecom Corp. (TSX VENTURE:SMS) is pleased to announce that it has appointed, subject to regulatory approval, Sam Chung of Vancouver Canada as the Company's new Chief Financial Officer.

Mr. Chung, bilingual in Chinese and English, holds a BA in Commerce and Economics from Simon Fraser University and a MBA from the University of British Columbia. In 1984 he obtained his Certified General Accountant of Canada designation, graduating with distinction. Mr. Chung has held several executive positions with companies based in both Asia and North America.

Highlights of Mr. Chung's career includes a recent position as Executive Vice President with Creative Design Ltd., a large Hong Kong based trading company. Mr. Chung was responsible for marketing, product development and sourcing from factories all across China. From 1996 to 2000, Mr. Chung served as President of EAS International (USA) Inc., with offices in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. EAS (USA) is a subsidiary of Beijing-based EAS International Transportation Ltd., an international freight forwarder with fifty offices in China and subsidiaries in six other countries.

From 1989 to 1994, Mr. Chung served as Vice President, Finance and Administration of Manchu Inc. (Hong Kong), a garment trading and manufacturing company with its head office in Hong Kong, factories in China, Mongolia and Philippines, and two importer/wholesaler partnerships in New York. His financial responsibilities included cash flow planning, strategic planning, negotiation of bank facilities and financial reporting for six operations in five countries. He later went on to become President of Manchu Ltd. (New York), a subsidiary of Manchu Inc. (Hong Kong).

From 1987 to 1989 Mr. Chung was the Director of Finance and Administration, Asia Pacific for Tyco (Hong Kong) Limited - a wholly owned subsidiary of Tyco Toys Inc. of New Jersey. He was responsible for all accounting and finance functions including financial reporting, standard costing, budgeting, tax planning, currency hedging, cash flow, negotiation and management of trade facilities.

Prior to his career overseas, Mr. Chung had over ten years of financial and administrative experience in the trucking and forestry industry in Vancouver including being the Controller of McDonald Cedar, a division of International Forest Products, a TSE listed company.

Yangtze Telecom has accepted the resignation of Mr. David Douglas both as Chief Financial Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors. The Company would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Douglas for all of his efforts during his time with the Company.
