Scotiabank is pleased to announce the appointment of Troy Wright to the position of Executive Vice-President, Retail Distribution, Canadian Banking, effective July 18, 2011.

In his new role, Troy will report to Anatol von Hahn, Group Head, Canadian Banking, and will be responsible for the operations and profitability of the Canadian retail and small business customer distribution channels.

Troy joined Scotiabank in 1993. In addition to his most recent position as CEO of Scotiabank de Puerto Rico, Troy has completed a number of cross divisional assignments including Senior Vice-President of Mergers & Acquisitions in International Banking; Senior Vice-President of Commercial Banking in Canada, and Senior Vice-President of Capital Markets with Scotiabank Mexico.

Troy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Economics from the University of Western Ontario, and successfully completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is a past president of the Puerto Rico Bankersí Association and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of Mexico, and a former member of the Board of Directors of Scotiabank de Puerto Rico and of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Canada. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the San Juan Bay Estuary Conservation Corporation.
