BMO Capital Markets is pleased to announce the appointment of its President, Eric Tripp, to a new role focused on centralizing balance sheet and risk management across all of its lines of business. In this capacity, Mr. Tripp will have oversight of capital, liquidity and exposures for all interactions with corporate, institutional and government clients which encompass BMO Capital Markets’ investment & corporate banking, trading products and treasury operations.
Mr. Tripp will continue in his role as President and deputy head of BMO Capital Markets and as a member of both the BMO Capital Markets Executive and BMO Financial Group Management Committees. He will also continue to have oversight of the BMO Capital Markets operations in Europe and Asia as well as the New York and Chicago offices.
Mr. Tripp joined the investment bank in 1983 in the fixed income derivatives group. Since then, he has been involved in increasingly responsible positions including management of the firm’s equity business, as well as its treasury and trading products businesses.
Mr. Tripp is a past chairman of the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation, and former board member of the Toronto Futures Exchange and the TSX Group. He is the founder and Executive Sponsor of the BMO Capital Markets Diversity Council, which is committed to achieving a diverse workforce and an equitable and supportive workplace.
Mr. Tripp holds a BA (Hons) Economics from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario.
