The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Sculthorpe as its national chief executive officer.
Mr. Sculthorpe has served as CEO of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario (HSFO) since 2009.
A seasoned business leader with a track record of leading complex organizations, Mr. Sculthorpe has experience in both the entrepreneurial and corporate worlds where he has facilitated workplace innovation and talent development. He has held a variety of executive positions including President of Warner Lambert, Cadbury Schweppes PLC and Pfizer, and has been on all sides of mergers and acquisitions. He has overseen transitions and integrations and transformational change initiatives in Canada, South America and globally.
Mr. Sculthorpe’s accomplishments since joining the Foundation have been significant, including leading HSFO’s more than 300 staff members and 50,000 volunteers through strategic change; delivering on financial targets for two consecutive years; supporting innovation with the successful launch of the HSFO Calendar Lottery in 2010, and exceeding the goal for the 2011 HSFO annual Ride for Heart, which galvanized 13,000 cyclists in raising $4.1 million for heart and stroke research. Through his leadership, Mr. Sculthorpe also oversaw important advocacy work by engaging provincial partners to place more than 3,000 AEDs in Ontario, resulting in 30 lives saved to date. Under his direction, HSFO secured a $10 million investment from the Ontario government to support the placement of AEDs across the province.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation, a volunteer-based health charity, leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke, reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living and advocacy.
