SNC-Lavalin is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael (Mike) Parker to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Parker, formerly President and CEO of Dow Chemical and Group Chief Executive of British Nuclear Fuels, is a native of England.

After completing a degree in chemical engineering at the University of Manchester and an MBA from Manchester Business School, he worked for Dow as a production engineer, and then in a series of commercial and business leadership roles. His international experience has seen him working in the USA, UK, Switzerland and Hong Kong. In 2000, Mr. Parker became President and CEO of The Dow Chemical Company, based in Midland, Michigan. In 2003, he became CEO of British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL), an arm of the British Nuclear Industry owned by the UK government. He completed this role, successfully dismantling the business, in June 2009.

He has been a member of the boards of directors of The Dow Chemical Company, the American Plastics Council, the American Chemistry Council, the Dow Corning Corporation, and the National Legal Centre for Public Interest in America, and is currently a member of the boards of directors of Invensys plc, PV Crystalox Solar and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). In 2008, he became Chairman of Liverpool’s new economic development and regeneration company, Liverpool Vision.
