Robert G. McFarlane
Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS Corporation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert G. McFarlane as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of TELUS Corporation and, in an acting capacity, for TELUS Mobility. In his position, Bob will be responsible for the development of corporate financial strategies, plans and policies as well as the delivery of these services. In addition, he is responsible for investor relations, financial reporting and control and internal audit.
Prior to the acquisition of Clearnet Communications Inc. by TELUS, Bob was Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary Treasurer of Clearnet and a member of its Board of Directors. Bob led the development of Clearnet's finance, accounting and risk management teams from a near start-up state. His responsibilities included managing all facets of treasury, planning and investor relations. He also helped raise more than $3.3 billion from 11 equity and debt issues over a three-year period as well as successfully implementing an IPO in 1994. During Bob's time at Clearnet, the company launched two state-of-the-art digital wireless networks and grew its total number of clients across Canada to more than 700,000.
Bob obtained a bachelor of commerce (honoured) degree from Queen's University in 1983 and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario in 1985.
