Arthur Sawchuk, Chairman of the Board, is pleased to announce the election of John Richardson to Manulife Financial's Board of Directors.
Mr. Richardson is Senior Executive Vice President, Manulife Financial, responsible for the Company's U.S. Operations, Reinsurance and Corporate Services. He is also a member of Manulife's Executive Committee and Management Committee.
Mr. Richardson joined Manulife Financial in 1992 as Senior Vice President, Financial Services, bringing with him more than 20 years experience in the financial services industry. That year, he was promoted to the position of Senior Vice President and General Manager, Canadian Operations. In 1995, Mr. Richardson was appointed Senior Vice President, U.S. Operations, responsible for the management of the division. In 1997, he was appointed Executive Vice President, U.S. Operations and his responsibilities expanded to include the Company's Reinsurance Division and Pensions (Canada). Mr. Richardson was promoted to his current position in January 1999.
