Tom Bligh, Vice President and General Manager, US Middle Market and Canada, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lyell Farquharson to the position of Vice-President and General Manager, Business Travel, Amex Canada Inc.

As leader of the Business Travel group in Canada, Lyell is responsible for developing and driving the business strategy for travel, as well as leading the management of the business on a day-to-day basis. Lyell is a member of the Canadian Executive team and is responsible for strategically aligning Business Travel with Corporate Card and other American Express Canada business units to create a strong Canadian corporate identity.

Lyell brings with him 12 years of experience working in a number of travel related businesses. Prior to joining American Express, he was President of Navigant International Canada. Lyell has extensive experience with Global companies, delivering solutions across a broad range of service and distribution businesses.

Lyell holds a Bachelor of Business Management from Ryerson University and is a Chartered Accountant from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Lyell takes an active interest in the travel community and is on the Board of Directors of the Association of Canadian Travel Agents, as well as Chairman of the Canadian Corporate Travel Association.

American Express in Canada operates as Amex Bank of Canada and Amex Canada Inc. Both are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the New York-based American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc., the largest operating unit of the American Express Company. Amex Bank of Canada is the issuer of American Express Cards in Canada. Amex Canada Inc. operates the Corporate Travel, Travel Services Network and Travellers Cheques divisions in Canada. American Express opened its first offices in Toronto and Hamilton in 1853, and now employs 3,700 Canadians coast-to-coast.
