George A. Cope
Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS Corporation, is pleased to announce the appointment of George A. Cope as President and Chief Executive Officer of TELUS Mobility.
George most recently served as President and CEO of Clearnet Communications Inc., which was acquired by TELUS in a deal that closed October 20, 2000. George had led Clearnet since 1987. Under his stewardship, Clearnet became a public company that raised more than $3.2 billion in capital, launched two state-of-the-art digital wireless networks and grew its total number of clients across Canada to more than 700,000.
George is a Director of Star Data Systems Inc. and a member of the board of directors of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association. He sits on both the advisory board of the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and the board of the Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundation. George is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (Honours Business Administration 1984).
