Barry A. Baptie
Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS Corporation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Barry A. Baptie as Executive Vice President, Technology and Operations. Barry and his team will be responsible for establishing the infrastructure necessary to support the development and delivery of integrated Internet Protocol (IP), data and voice services on a regional and national basis.
Technology and Operations will include the chief technology officer role as well as the functions of service assurance and fulfillment, network management, planning and architecture development, network infrastructure provisioning, field operations and operational logistical support areas.
Barry's career in the telecommunications business began at Ed Tel where he held senior positions in regulatory, strategy, customer services, billing and administrative services, culminating in the position of VP Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer. After the acquisition of Ed Tel by TELUS, Barry held senior positions in finance and regulatory. His most recent position at TELUS was EVP Finance and Chief Financial Officer.
Barry holds a B.A. (History) and an MBA from the University of Alberta. He received his CMA in 1979 and was recently honoured with the FCMA designation. He is a member of the Society of Management Accountants of Alberta and the Financial Executives Institute.
