The Board of Directors of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada is pleased to announce the election of Audrey Vandewater, as President.
Mrs. Vandewater has been a volunteer with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba since 1980 and a national volunteer since 1986. She has served as Chair of the Fundraising Advisory Committee, Chair of the External Relations Committee and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada's representative on the Council for Health Research. Most currently she has served as Vice-President, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
In addition to her volunteer work with the Foundation, Mrs. Vandewater has been active in many community organizations, including the Foundations for Health (a research capital campaign), the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities and the Universities Grants Commission. Her leadership and dedication have resulted in significant contributions to both Manitoba and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The Foundation is a volunteer-led federation of 10 independent provincial foundations with a shared mission: "to further the study, prevention and reduction of disability and death from heart disease and stroke through research, education and the promotion of healthy lifestyles".
