About Money Market Funds

Globe Portfolio treats fixed value money market funds with a daily accrued income factor as follows. If you buy units or sell all units partway through the month, you do not receive the full amount of the month-end distribution because you did not hold the units for the full period.

When you add a transaction to buy units or sell all units on a date for which globefund knows the exact distribution that was paid at month end, Globe Portfolio calculates your distribution using a weighted average based on the total distribution for the month and the number of days you held each unit during that month.

When you add a transaction to buy units during the current month, globefund does not yet know what the month-end distribution will be. In this case, Globe Portfolio waits until the distribution gets paid and the weighted average calculation described above is done at that time.

When you sell all units partway through the current month (using the Sell All Units option on the Record Buy/Sell page), globefund does not yet know what the month-end distribution will be. In this case, Globe Portfolio calculates your distribution using a weighted average based on the total distribution for the previous month and the number of days you held each unit during the current month. This may cause a small difference between the distribution shown on your fund company statement and that reported by Globe Portfolio.

The weighted average calculation used by Globe Portfolio differs from the method used by the fund companies to calculate your distribution. Fund companies calculate daily accruals and the accrual rate can change from day to day. This may cause a small difference between the distribution shown on your fund company statement and that reported by Globe Portfolio.
